Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids
Matthew 25:1-13 NLT
25 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, 4 but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6 “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’
7 “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. 8 Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’
9 “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’
10 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’
12 “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’
13 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.
In this parable of The Ten Virgins the oil equals anointing. The five foolish virgins are people that are not prepared for Jesus’ return which is near-[this time period today]; they are living a life that is without anointing (oil).
The five wise virgins are people that are living holy.
Notice that the five wise virgins tell the foolish ones to go back to the market place. This equals go back to the place where you have been doing business. They are telling them to go back to the place where they have put their trust in; the world aka The World System.
The five wise virgins have oil because they have been sitting in The presence of The Lord-The Anointed One. And also they have been forged in trials. Olive Oil is produce in a press which equals pressure from trials/holy living.
It is a press to live holy today. Living a lifestyle of holiness is a trial today in and of itself. But those that endure to the end will receive a great reward[Matthew 24:13].
This parable of The Ten Virgins is speaking of today; this very season right now. Today in America and in much of The Church in America we are seeing the falling away spoken of by Apostle Paul in Thessalonians2:3
The warning here is; that we must live holy in this day and age. We must live like the five wise virgins. Now is the day to live a holy life before the Lord or we will not be ready when Jesus returns and calls us into account for our life style here in the earth.
I encourage all of us to work out our on salvation with fear and trembling [Philippians 2:12]. Let’s make are calling and election sure 2 Peter 1:10.
Love to all.
God Bless You.
